pecompat - Maximize compatibility of a Windows PE file

SYNOPSIS

pecompat exe_file

Patches a Windows 32-bit PE executable file to maximize its compatibility with older versions of Windows.

Specifically, it:

•Clears the linker time stamp

•Sets the required OS version and subsystem to “4.00” (Windows 95)

•Recalculates the PE checksum

•Warns if any Unicode import functions are used
